4-24-2023 Minor Update
Thank you to everyone who played Beige Corridors at the Capital Creative Showcase 2023! It was exciting to see so many people play the game. I've made a few changes based on observations and feedback from the showcase.
The biggest problem I noticed was the tutorial. The messages went by too quickly for some players and too slowly for others. To solve this, the tutorial now progresses based on the player’s actions, so it should move at the right pace for everyone. I also rewrote most of the messages, and I added some custom in-text icons for controls.
I made a few changes to make the doors easier to use. There is now a larger hitbox for holding the interact button to close them quietly. I also made it clearer why doors won’t open when you try to push them from the pull side, and the tutorial points out how you can tell which side is which by looking for the kickplate at the bottom.
There were a few more changes, like adjustments to the controls, improved death screen messages, and the option to hide the tutorial after the first time playing.
One problem I plan on addressing in a future update is the game’s difficulty. I have an idea for a new monster behavior that should help balance the difficulty and make the gameplay more interesting.
